The best thing FOR sliced bread. 
I love good, whole grain bread, and I usually bring some along when I camp. It is almost always unsliced , so I need a good breadknife to cut it with, and a cutting board is nice to to have,too. The problem was, though, that I needed a sheath for the knife. I solved the problem by taking an old cutting board, cutting off a 2" slice and a 1/4" slice right next to it. I then cut a slot using my table saw almost the length of the 2" piece. I then glued the 1/4 " piece to the 2" piece, and voila, I had not only a sheath, but a narrow cutting board as well.
