THE WOLF.....WORTH SAVING

This river is well renowned for its white water, from the thunderous Big Smoky Falls to Slough Gundy and the Dells of the Wolf. I have canoed the stretch from Lily to Langlade and a stretch further up river, the latter in fall when there were ducks everywhere and the trees were just starting to turn.

The stretch from Lily to Langlade will give you all you want as far as challenging rapids, wild country and good trout fishing. There are no mandatory portages as there are further downstream and there are virtually no cabins or bridges to mar your wilderness experience.

Put into a little stream at Lily and you will soon join the main river. I remember an old dam and many rocky rapids that demand constant attention to the paddle.
